Location of Portchester Sailing Club

Portchester Sailing Club is located between Portsmouth and Fareham in South Hampshire, England. It is next to Portchester Castle, which was first a Roman fortress and is a nice relaxing place for a walk after you have been sailing. The channel in front of the club is quite deep and is also used by boats from Port Solent. There is a large area of water around the Sailing Club, although there are many sandbanks which appear at low tide. The main channel widens/deepens at Admiralty Buoy 2/3 and is used by Continental ferries and Naval vessels to sail past Southsea into the English Channel. For a longer outing you could take your cruiser to The Isle of Wight/France for a weekend. The water is not very congested and allows unlimited sailing within sheltered waters but with the opportunity to try out open water. Port Solent offers many facilities to the sailor from marina/support services to shops/restaurants and pubs.
