Training at Portchester SC

The Training Section of the club aims to provide training opportunities for all boating sections of the club. The club is an RYA Training Centre and we are therefore governed by the rules set out by the RYA.  The Training Principal is ably supported by his team of RYA Instructors, assistants and helpers.

Courses are organised when there is sufficient demand from club and when members and resources are available to run them. Water-based courses may be cancelled at short notice if the conditions are unsuitable for the type of course being run. Details of future courses can be found on the web site, on the Training Notice Board within the club and within the club’s Fixture Programme.

The Section currently provides training in the following areas:-

Waterbased (April to October)
           RYA Junior Dinghy Training
           RYA Adult Dinghy Training
           RYA Powerboat and Safety Boat courses
           Dinghy Race Coaching
         
Shorebased (October to April)
          RYA Shorebased Courses (Navigation, VHF, Radar, First Aid,
          Diesel, Day Skipper, Yachtmaster, Ocean)
          Winter Evening Cruiser ‘training’ events and talks
          Winter Evening Dinghy ‘training’ and talks
          Winter Evening powerboat ‘training’ and talks
